Founded on 28 September 2001, the Shanghai Dazhong Gas Company Limited is a diversifying gas enterprise integrated with gas transmission, distribution, marketing and service. With registered capital of RMB 800 million yuan, this Company was established by restructuring former Shanghai Sinan Gas Marketing Company Limited. Since 26 December 2003 , the Company has become a subsidiary of Shanghai Gas (Group) Company Limited. In the Company, the Shanghai Gas (Group) Company Limited and Shanghai Dazhong Public Utility (Group) Company Limited own 50% equity interests respectively.

By the end of 2006, the Company employed 1620 staff, and the gas users of the Company, who were located at Puxi ( West Shanghai ) region on the south of Suzhou Creek, were 1,508,700 in total. Among them 916,800 were the users of artificial coal gas, including 900,500 residential users and 591,900 were the users of natural gas, including 588,300 residential users. At that moment, the underground pipeline network of the Company was 5,348 km long in total. Moreover, the Company had three large gas storage and distribution stations with total nominal capacity of 1.9 million cubic meter.

At the end of 2006 the total assets of the Company was RMB 3.028 billion yuan and net assets was RMB 0.975 billion yuan. Annual sale volume of artificial coal gas was 890 million cubic meter, natural gas 268 million cubic meter. In 2006, the sale revenue of the Company was RMB 1.957 billion yuan and net profit RMB 92.59 million yuan.
